June 8, 2007, Newsletter Issue #42: New York: Chinatown

Tip of the Week

Educational trips to New York provide a good opportunity for students to sample the culture and food of different groups of people, without leaving the United States. New York's Chinatown is a good example of this. More than 150,000 people live in this area, which is the largest Chinese community outside Asia. The area has several Chinese newspapers, Buddhist temples and restaurants. It celebrates the Chinese New Year every year.
